Following a joint partnership agreement with Sun Microsystems to offer best of breed technologies, Toshiba’s award winning range of laptops is now available with Sun OpenSolaris 2008.11 pre-installed.

The OpenSolaris platform is ideal for developers enabling them to release applications and services to the market quickly in today’s business environment. The latest 2008.11 release offers built-in features to help build, debug and deploy new applications faster. The open-source format of OpenSolaris allows developers to scale their needs using a proven system supporting mission critical applications.

Toshiba offers two models to support OpenSolaris – The Tecra M10 and the Portégé R600. Both are tailored for business requirements with Toshiba EasyGuard further enhancing and protecting the laptop. Features such as a Shock Protected Chassis to withstand more knocks with improved reliability, and a sealed spill resistant keyboard on the R600 to protect against accidental spillage.
