Feature Overview

A Virtual Lock for your Files: Advanced Encryption

For those extra sensitive and confidential documents that need a higher level of security and protection, Toshiba EasyGuard’s advanced encryption technology offers just that. A virtual lock can be placed on your selected files or folders and be secured by an additional password or simply by your fingerprint.

How it works

The latest TPM technology (Trusted Platform Module), installed on the motherboard of a laptop, carries encryption keys that allow users to encrypt documents or entire folders. Only with the combination of the TPM chip on the corresponding laptop can the document be unlocked, viewed or edited. This advance encryption solution is available on selected models.

Easy and Secure: Fingerprint Reader - Single Sign On

If you regularly lock your machine, then you’ll be familiar with having to remember your passwords which is why we’ve added Fingerprint Reader - Single Sign On to our business laptops, providing the ability to access your system using your fingerprints as authentication. Removing the need to remember complex and ever-changing passwords, you can lock and secure your laptop, documents and even websites, as well as deactivate screensavers during important presentations in an easy and convenient manner.

How it works

An integrated biometric scanner is built-in to your laptop, and with one simple swipe of your finger, you gain instant access to your machine with no password required. Fingerprint authentication can be set as the default authentication method for all systems, including BIOS, HDD or Windows® – offering you security and convenience at the same time.

Smart Laptop: SmartCard Reader

In business, it’s important to ensure that confidential documents, data and devices can be accessed securely. One way you can do this is by using SmartCard technology as an identification device integrated in our laptops. So whether you use your SmartCard for authentification or programming, you can access your data quickly and securely.

How it works

The easy to access SmartCard reader gives you access to a wide range of usage scenarios, regardless if it is authentification, reading and validating data or using embedded applications.

Lost and Found: Computrace® enabled BIOS

Travelling for business and working away from the office comes with risks, and if you’re unfortunate enough to lose your laptop or have it stolen, it would help to have a Computrace® enabled BIOS. Based on the subscription you have chosen by your selected service provider, the intelligent software can track, locate and in certain cases even recover lost laptops. It is possible to send the laptop a command to simply do not turn off again or even delete certain parts or the complete HDD.

How it works

Using a subscription-based service, a small piece of undetectable software is pre-installed on your laptop. This acts as a homing device, tracking the laptop’s whereabouts so an IT team can trace the laptop’s location if you ever lose it.

Stolen but Still Protected: Intel® Anti-Theft Technology

If you’ve ever lost a laptop, you’ll know the biggest loss is not the laptop itself, but the data that’s on it. With that in mind, we’ve included Intel® Anti-Theft on our latest laptops – a well-protected programme code embedded in the chipset memory that allows your IT department to remotely lock, erase content or wipe your content the next time it connects to the internet – keeping your content safe, even if your laptop is stolen.

How it works

Managed via subscription by a security provider , Intel® Anti-Theft technology allows your IT department to trace laptop signals over the internet from the moment your machine is reported lost or stolen. Once the laptop is located, your IT department or security provider can remotely send commands to delete data and folders or shut down and lock the computer so it’s unable to restart. Stored on the chipset memory, Intel® Anti-Theft technology continues to protect the laptop - even if the hard disk drive is replaced.

Powerfully Protected by You: Password Utilities

Password Utilities is a tool that allows you to set and maintain secure BIOS passwords while running Windows. Passwords can be created for Supervisor, Users and HDDs, granting only qualified users the ability to start up the booting sequence and maintain BIOS settings. With these security measures in place, you can rest assured in the knowledge that only you can access your laptop’s contents.

Constant Control: Toshiba Device Access Control

Preventing unauthorised system access is paramount to maintaining security. To help you do that, Toshiba offers companies a Device Access Control utility that allows the IT department, to lock specific devices, ports or limit its functions, preventing confidential data from being copied from systems to external storage devices or private data from being copied to business laptops. This reduces the risk of data theft and helps reduce the threat of viruses coming from private devices.

How it works

Intelligent software enables IT administrators to set a range of profiles, where they can dictate exactly what connectivity interfaces are active and if needed which devices are allowed on the remaining active port. With the ability to lock individual ports or devices, IT departments are able to effectively reduce the risk of data leaks and also prevent viruses by ensuring users don’t copy software or data from non-authorized devices.
