Solid and Secure: Solid State Drive (SSD)

The daily rigours of working on the move often results in vibrations and shocks to your laptop that can affect the internal components in a hard disk drive. But with a Solid State Drive (SSD) there are no moving parts, making your laptop better suited for mobile working. Solid state media is also faster and more power-efficient and significantly reduces boot and shut-down times, all meaning you can work quicker and enjoy the benefits of a longer lasting battery.

How it works

Traditional data storage devices, such as hard disk drives, are built using moving mechanical parts which can be severely affected by shocks, vibrations and impacts, such as knocks or drops. A Solid State Drive consists of entirely fixed components that don’t move, providing a more robust storage alternative and better protected data.

Spill-Proof Computing: Spill-resistant Keyboard¹

If you accidentally spill something on your laptop during a working lunch, there’s no need for you to worry. Toshiba’s spill-resistant keyboards¹ protect your computer against accidental spills giving you time to save your documents, before you power-down your laptop.

How it works

Our laptops and their keyboards have been uniquely designed so they prevent any liquid which has been spilt accidentally reaching the internal hardware, such as the motherboard and essential electrical components. By including Toshiba’s spill-resistance technology, you have three minutes to save your data and power down.

Protection on the Move: HDD Protection with 3D Accelerometer

When you’re working on the move, your laptop will inevitably have to withstand accidental knocks and bumps that can put your data at risk if your hard disk is damaged. Thanks to Toshiba’s advanced HDD shock protection and multi-axis accelerometer that detects how your laptop is moving, you can rest assured that your laptop’s HDD and its data is well protected. We’ve also protected the internal HDD with rubber shock absorption that take the impact of any knocks reducing any physical impact on internal hardware.

How it works

An integrated 3D accelerometer features a multi-axis monitoring system, which identifies the smallest movement from all sides of your laptop. When a particular type of movement is detected, such as when your laptop is in freefall, the reading head is automatically moved from the HDD platter to parked position, preventing damage to your drive and protecting your documents.

Wear-and-Tear Resilience: Shock Protection Design

Constantly working on the move means that your laptop is subject to accidental knocks, bumps and shocks. That’s why we’ve engineered our laptops to integrate a unique shock protection design. We’ve added special cushioning and dedicated padding within your laptop’s casing, protecting internal components against the rigours of day-to-day use so you can work without worry.

How it works

To ensure our laptops are reliable and robust, we’ve conducted extensive product tests, such as Highly Accelerated Life Testing (HALT). During HALT testing, laptops are repeatedly subjected to extreme levels of temperature, shock and vibration stress. Results from these trials enable us to improve product durability and ensure our laptops will hold up to a lifetime of use.

Identify and Resolve PC Problems : PC Diagnostics

When you’re working on multiple programmes at the same time, you’ll occasionally need to check how your laptop is performing. When the performance doesn’t match up with what’s being displayed, Toshiba’s unique PC Diagnostics software helps you and your IT team identify and solve most computer issues. The one-touch Toshiba Assist button takes you straight to the PC Diagnostics centre, so you can resolve issues quickly and get back to work.

Sometimes laptop components need to be updated or replaced, so we’ve designed our laptops with easy access to key components such as memory, hard drive and wireless systems. Such easy access to these components will save you both time and money, ensuring updates can be carried out quickly and reducing PC down-time.

How it works

Our laptops have been designed so you can access all the vital components through a small selection of accessible plates. Just a screwdriver is required to access the hard disk drive and memory, meaning that your IT department can easily carry out any essential updates.
